The Power of Prayer
What is prayer?
Prayer is communion with God. Understanding the power of prayer first begins with understanding who we are in Christ, for the Bible declares that we have been seated in Christ far above all principalities, and spiritual wickedness in high places. (Ephesians 2:6)
This is key before we begin to engage, we must understand the authority that Christ has given us through the cross and His resurrection power. When we understand who and who we are, things can shift in the spirit and we no longer have to approach God in doubt as itβs His power that does the work through us. We are just the vehicle, God is using.
Nothing in our prayers will be hindered when stand in the proper position. Jesus is the lawyer acting on our behalf and God is the judge. We need the blood of Jesus to plead our cause before God. Being divinely positioned unlocks authority as we pray. You must believe that you receive what you say and then you will have it in the proper time as you stand in faith. (Mark 11:24) The blood of Jesus is the remission for our sins and this allows us to enter the courts of Heaven in boldness. God sees Christ when we approach the throne of God properly. (Hebrews 4:16)

Jesus has given us the power and authority to speak to:
- Mountains (Mark 11:23)
- Cast Out Devils (Mark 16:17)
- Speak To Things In The Earth (Romans 4:17)
- Declare and Decree (Job 22:28)
- Bind and Loose (Matthew 16:19)
There is life and death in the power of our tongue. (Proverbs 18:21)
Now, as new believers, most don’t understand their authority yet, and that’s okay. God is not in the business of ignoring our prayers when don’t have all the right things to say. Nevertheless, rest assured God watches over His word to perform it. (Jeremiah 1:12)

1 John 14-15 says that when we pray we know the Lord hears us and because we know that he hears us we know that we have the petitions that we desire of him. So before we begin to engage in prayer, we must first understand who we are and whose we are, knowing that Christ has already given us the power and authority to win every battle.
Jesus declared to his disciples, I will build my church upon this rock and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it (Matthew 16:17-19) no matter the type of opposition we see, we must understand and know that our prayers shall be answered. As long as we pray, according to the will of God, that is key for answered prayers. We must pray the will of God by praying the word of God. The most strategic thing you can do is pray the word of God. God’s word can not return to Him void. (Isaiah 55:11)
Moreover, our patience will stem from three components:
Prayer
Praise
Worship
As we wait on some prayer manifestations, that may or may not be answered immediately depending upon the circumstances. We must believe that nothing is impossible with God. Another prayer weapon weβve been granted is putting on the full armor of God and praying in the Holy Ghost when we do not know what to pray. (Romans 8:26)
The Bible says our spirit makes groanings for us which cannot be uttered. When we allow the Holy Spirit to pray through us, we allow our spirit to intercede for us. Now, we have a responsibility to make sure that we have no open doors in our lives for the enemy to attack us intentionally.
Ensuring that we are not willfully walking in deliberate sin and disobedience and living a life of Repentance, Fasting, and Prayer in obedience to God. Holiness is still right in the eyes of God, to see the fruit of our petitions, as the fight has already been fixed and won for us. God just needs us to partner with him on Earth to bring His will forth as it is in Heaven.
The only reason Satan ever had any right to become a prince or rule over us was because we yielded ourselves to him through sin (Rom. 6:16). Since Jesus ‘bore our sins in His own body on the tree’ (1 Pet. 2:24), Satan no longer has power or authority over those who accept Jesus’ gift of salvation. Satan has been ‘cast out’ — stripped of any power he had. Now he can only deceive, and if we fall for his lies, we stop God’s blessings from flowing in our lives. The reason why a believer must live a holy life, is to avoid Satan’s bondage. When we obey sin, we yield ourselves to Satan, the author of that sin. Yielding to sin is yielding to a person, Satan. God doesn’t impute the sin to us but the devil does. Our actions either release the power of Satan or the power of God in us. |
Conclusion
We must never abandon our prayer life, God needs to hear our voice. God can answer our thoughts as well, I am a witness, however opening up our mouths to speak the word of God yields great power. We must put on the full armor of God and stand in faith. The shield of faith quenches all firing darts of the enemy. Once prayer, praise, and worship is finished, learn to sit in His presence. Many of us must practice sitting in silence to hear from God, it is not always easy, but as we silence our minds and yield, God will speak. After we communicate, we listen for answers and life-inspirational instructions. God desires to speak to us and guide our life. As we hear His voice, judge it against the word of God to ensure, it is truly God who is speaking. God will never lead us to do anything that goes against His word, which is ultimately His divine will for our lives.
